Casa Natalia: Hidden gems, once spotted, take patience, love, craftsmanship and due time. It takes time to make a fine gem glisten its way to excellence.

In the case of the gem known as Hotel Casa Natalia, an intimate 18-room boutique hotel located in the historic town of San José del Cabo, it has taken its owner, Nathalie Buchler, two decades of attentive, loving dedication. During all this time, Casa Natalia has undoubtedly become one of San José’s traditional landmarks, where knowledgeable travelers and locals alike can not only find a good night’s rest, but a feast for the eyes and the soul. The hotel’s fine culinary options deserve a whole different chapter, though. Mi Cocina Restaurant, which is also celebrating 20 years of world-renowned food and wine offerings, and Baja Oyster Bar, also located within the hotel and which opened in 2015 featuring unique seafood dishes and oysters from Sol Azul, in the reserve of Laguna de San Ignacio, along the Baja California peninsula, are both widely known for their eclectic menu items to please any palate and are inspired by Mexican, European and Asian cuisine.

Throughout the years the hotel has been recognized for its attention to hospitality, timeless architecture, and curated artwork that surrounds the property and makes each room unique. “Twenty years ago, I purchased this property with the goal of transforming this space into a boutique hotel rooted in Mexican culture with elements of my European heritage,” said Nathalie. “For the last 20 years, everyone here at Casa Natalia has been delivering on this vision and offering our guests — many of them repeat — an oasis that brings surprise and delight from the minute they enter through the front door.”

Casa Natalia is surrounded by picturesque shops, romantic restaurants, colonial buildings and a lush estuary. The internal gardens are an oasis of 39 palm trees and tropical bougainvillea. The outdoor palapa offers views of the hotel’s waterfalls, heated pool, and open flame braziers. Each relaxing and unique room and suites with hot tubs features artwork from local artists and all over Mexico.

We would like to earnestly congratulate Hotel Casa Natalia and its owner, Nathalie Buchler, for having made this incredibly fine contribution to the richness of San Jose del Cabo’s contemporary history, and we look forward to bearing witness to its continued success for many decades to come.
