About Love & Friendship

February 14, a significant day for many.  Celebrations marked on this date include ‘Clean your Computer Day’, ‘International Book Giving Day’, ‘League of Women Voters Day’ and ‘National Ferris Wheel Day’, among others.

Although all of these celebrations are real, I assure you, none are as well known as ‘St. Valentine’s Day’.  A day when lovers celebrate the person they love and others celebrate all those whom they love. This celebration may be one of the most popular in The United States but it has seen its popularity spread throughout North America, South America, and even The European Union.

Many countries have their own take on the holiday.  In Colombia, it is known as ‘El Día de Amor y Amistad’ (The Day of Love and Friendship) and is celebrated on the third Saturday of September, each year.  In Italy, Spain and Germany, and other parts of Europe – as in Mexico and the United States – it is celebrated on February 14 and is known as ‘La Festa Degli Innamorati’ (The Feast of Lovers), ‘El Día de San Valentín’ (The Day of St. Valentine) and ‘Valentinstag’, respectively.

While many consider a box of chocolates and flowers the gift ‘de rigueur’ (required by etiquette or current fashion), my children have, for many years, exchanged paper Valentine’s accompanied by small, sweet candies; Grandmothers often bake their loved ones cupcakes or cookies.

I have a dear friend who, for the past 32 years, has celebrated Valentine’s Day with a great buffet of Chines Take-away, which has grown into a tradition of its own.   In Mexico, you may see this day celebrated with balloons, poems, and even Mariachi Bands, reflecting the country’s rich culture.  Whatever manner you choose to celebrate those whom you care for, one certainty is that Cabo San Lucas bursts with a proper romantic setting to help make your Valentine’s Day – and night – memorable.

Almost every blog post, tourism guide, and Cabo San Lucas local will agree that the following are some of the best ways to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day in Cabo San Lucas:

Reserve an early dinner in the heart of Cabo San Lucas – the Marina.  This bustling district, which includes bars and incredible restaurants is THE place to experience stunning sunsets.

Lover’s Beach is one of the most breathtaking places to enjoy the sun and sea in Cabo San Lucas.  Nestled among the cliffs, it is a short boat ride from the Marina and should NOT be missed.

An absolute MUST for any visitor is a photo at the famous Arch at Land’s End.  This immense rock formation provides a stunning backdrop for that memorable, romantic photo.

Bring your loved one to Cabo San Lucas for Valentine’s Day. You may fall in love with the place so much you may choose to stay. If so, I have the perfect match for your next home in Cabo San Lucas.

Say hello.
