Where To Drink, Dine And Unwind In Los Cabos

Where To Drink: From off-the-beaten-path adventures to innovative cuisine, Los Cabos has flourished into a global destination boasting some of the most coveted homes and resorts in Mexico. Thanks to an influx of creative new farm-to-fork eateries and eclectic cultural happenings, the Cabo of 2017 is about so much more than stiff margaritas—though there are still plenty to go around! Here’s The Agency’s guide to the best places to dine and unwind in Los Cabos.

START YOUR MORNING HERE → Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and a favorite amongst celebs like George Clooney and Katy Perry,

Flora Farms truly has itall. The 10-acre organic farm boasts the ever-popular Field Kitchen restaurant, a bar and grocery store, shops and quaint cottages. Scoring a dinner reservation can be next to impossible these days, but their breakfast—served Tuesday through Saturday—and Sunday Brunch are reason enough to visit. Enjoy a morning frittata (made with eggs fresh from the farm, of course), or drink your breakfast at Farm Bar, which offers a wide range of fruit and vegetable-infused speciality cocktails to offset the guilt.

SURF HERE → It’s no secret the Southern California Baja Peninsula is a surfer’s paradise. From the right-hand point waves of Los Cerritos near the town of Todos Santos to the challenging south, southwest swell at Shipwrecks on the East Cape, there’s a wave for groms and pros alike. If you prefer to keep a safe distance from the action, don’t miss the annual Los Cabos Open of Surf, from June 6 to 11 at Zipper Beach, where you can watch professional surfers from all over the world compete and enjoy live music and entertainment.

TREAT YOURSELF HERE → Helmed by chef Enrique Olvera and located in The Cape hotel, Manta takes its culinary cues from the expansive ocean views which surround it. Drawing inspiration from his native Mexico and travels to Peru, Japan and beyond, Olvera’s inventive spin on traditional Mexican cuisine includes menu items like Veracruz-style ceviche, whole fish “a la talla” and black miso fish tacos, along with an impressive selection of wine and mezcals to wash it all down.

SATISFY YOUR TACO CRAVINGS HERE → Looking for something a little more low key? Head to La Lupita Taco & Mezcal for live music and tacos stuffed to the brim with fresh fish and pastor. This no-frills neighborhood joint also happens to be right across from The Agency Los Cabos, so be sure to stop by and say hello—extra points if you bring us a grasshopper taco!

SNACK & SHOP HERE → Inspired by the food markets of Europe, El Merkado at the new Koral Center is the perfect place to while away a Baja evening—and a one-stop-shop for snacks, sips, and souvenirs. Boasting 29 eclectic culinary options, including a sushi bar, Italian restaurant and organic market, along with a microbrewery, cantina, wine bar, and selection of local artisanal goods, be sure to come with full pockets and an empty stomach.

RIDE HERE → Most horseback riding excursions in Cabo are limited to quick jaunts up and down the coast, but there’s so much more landscape to explore than sandy beaches. Cuadra San Francisco, a family-owned and operated equestrian center, takes riders on scenic tours through the deserts and canyons of Cabo so you can get a true taste of the land.

TAKE A DAY TRIP HERE → Todos Santos: A pleasant 45-minute drive from Cabo, this sleepy town, long-favored by surfers and artists, is experiencing much buzz thanks to the arrival of hotelier Liz Lambert’s latest outpost, Hotel San Cristobal, and a slew of fashionable press. Margaritas at the infamous Hotel California are a tourist go-to, but we suggest dropping by Mariscos El Campo Chava for fresh ceviche and a cold Michelada if you’re looking for a more authentic experience. Peruse the art galleries of old town, silver shops specializing in local fire opals, and zapaterias where you can pick up handmade leather sandals as gifts for friends back home. Then, stop by La Bodega de Todos Santos to sample some local Baja wines before heading back to Cabo.
