I live in what was once was a very rural location next to a chili field, near the beach in El Pescadero.  Over time a neighborhood has built up around me, yet I still love it.  Watching a community grow up around you is a remarkable thing.

You see, I’ve lived at the south end of Playa Pescadero, near the area now known as El Gavilan, for over twenty years. I’m amazed by all the beautiful, well-crafted homes that now surround me, yet it still feels very open and natural.

The beach is as pristine as ever.  No vendors or activity centers here; just me, my dog Smokey and the sound of the waves.  Walking the clean expanse of sand all by ourselves no less!  Turtles, whales and birds are the visitors I most often see here and, on occasion, a neighbor making footprints in the sand.  Two world class surf breaks bookend the beach; beautiful Cerritos Beach with its safe swimming area and great beginner surf break is an easy walk or bike ride south.  World class surf break San Pedrito to the north is also convenient.

In today’s local real estate market, El Pescadero has become one of the most desirable pieces of coastline on this part of the Pacific. A number of factors are driving this trend including excellent value for the money and ample lot sizes, many of these lots providing excellent ocean views. Availability of water and power and easy beach access are also pluses.  In the summer months fresh breezes off the Pacific Ocean keep this area 10-15 degrees cooler than Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo or La Paz.

Significant signs of new investment are noticeable all along the coast, including the expansion of Rancho Pescadero, a popular 5 star boutique resort, the beautiful Palm Orchard residential development and Chip Conley’s “Modern Elder Academy” campus; all introducing visitors to this particular stretch of coastline. No wonder so many are choosing to invest and live here!

The endless outdoor activities, excellent dining options nearby and the raw beauty along this coast all blend to create this hidden gem in the Todos Santos real estate market.  But don’t expect the opportunities to last.  Now is the time to make El Pescadero your home.

Oh, and the chili farm I mentioned – it’s still here!
