5. Saturday Organic Market in San José del Cabo
Vacation in Cabo like a local: Starting in November and running through May, every Saturday from 9AM-3PM follow the sounds of laughter and music down a dirt road lined with carrizo (reeds) gently swaying in the breeze to the Mercado Organico (organic market). Find locally sourced fresh produce, plants for planting at home, handmade gifts, artisanal jewelry, local photographers, poets, storytellers, performers, and FOOD! The market has grown year after year and is without a doubt a “cannot-miss” event each Saturday. 4. Snorkel Chileno Bay
Along the “Golden Corridor” you will find the most magnificent snorkeling in the area between Santa Maria Bay and Chileno. Although it is a coin flip, the nod goes to Chileno Bay this time around due to their ease of parking, access to the beach, and nearly year-round perfect conditions. The water temperature is steadily warm year round and the fish are always looking for someone to play with. Chileno is a cove which keeps wave size at a minimum and you are welcome to bring your own cooler full of cold beers, waters, and snacks for post-swim stories of snorkeling grandeur.
3. Thursday Night Art Walk in San José del Cabo
Similar to the Organic Market, the Art Walk in downtown San José is a seasonal event that runs from late October through May each Thursday. From 5-9PM you will find street artists performing, live music in multiple venues, and all of the art galleries open and offering wine samples and bites to taste as you peruse from shop to shop. The main square in front of the Mission is lit up and busy with artists, tourists, and locals, enjoying the warm air and the paintings proudly displayed for viewing. As the night progresses you may find yourself sitting at a table of new friends, drinking a libation you never knew existed while dancing and laughing the night away.
2. Waterfall hike in Santiago
Thirty minutes north of the airport lies the sleepy Puebla of Santiago. As you enter through the mango trees into the center square you may feel as if you were transported back to a time when the pace of life was just a bit slower. Continuing straight to the dirt road in the hills where you will twist and turn as you wind your way to a higher elevation passing Ranchitos that offer natural hot springs, mountain trails, and pristine picnic areas until you arrive at Sol de Mayo. The hike to the waterfall is short but technical and on most days you will be the only ones there to enjoy a majestic day of swimming, hiking, and relaxing. Cabanas are available for overnight stays at a marginal cost.
1. Sailboat to the Arch in Cabo San Lucas
No trip to Los Cabos is complete without a trip on the water to the iconic “El Arco” at Lands End. The calm waters, perfect temperatures, mesmerizing sunsets, and bountiful encounters with whales, sea lions, and pelicans are a once in a lifetime experience. Boats leave daily with options to cover all budgets. No trip to Cabo is complete until you have “Selfied at the Arch” and met Pancho, the local sea lion that trails your boar looking for a snack and greets you on your return to the marina.
