The story of polo in Los Cabos began in November 2008 with the first international tournament, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Pacific beach. Teams from Chile, Mexico, the USA, and Canada competed, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Cabo’s luxury sports scene. Since then, 18 international tournaments have been played, thanks to the passion of Mr. Tony Yahyai and his friends, who fell in love with the perfect weather that Baja California Sur provides.
Now, Mr. Yahyai is taking this tradition to new heights by establishing a USPA (United States Polo Association) regulated polo arena, open for national and international championships just outside Cabo San Lucas. The USPA ensures that every event maintains the highest standards of professionalism, safety for both horses and players, and a commitment to the sport’s traditions.

Perched atop a hill, Club Polo Cabo enjoys the fresh Pacific breeze, creating an ideal environment for the true stars of this sport—the magnificent horses. The club has grown exponentially since opening in October 2022 with a modest team of 20+ horses and two instructors, Ramón Lozano and the Patron Tony Yahyai. Now, over 25 horses and a dozen students call the club home.
Last April, Club Polo Cabo celebrated its Fifth Annual Silver Cup with four teams featuring students and instructors in a thrilling low-handicap competition. With plans to raise the bar in 2024—both in the level of play and the luxurious amenities—the club is preparing for its next big tournament this November. Expect higher handicap goals and even more opulent facilities as the club continues attracting equestrian enthusiasts worldwide.
But Mr. Yahyai’s vision extends beyond polo matches. He’s creating an exclusive community for equine lovers seeking an immersive experience. Imagine waking up to Pacific views, enjoying breakfast, riding horses, dining under the stars, and repeating the cycle daily in this serene setting.
